Do you accept insurance?

If your insurance is not listed, alternative options can be that you contact your insurance for a prior authorization/pre-approval/pre-authorization/prior approval/pre-certification or pay out-of-pocket and present the superbill to your insurance for reimbursement. The latter option is far riskier as the insurance provider may reimburse at a lower rate or not at all.

What is your private pay rate?

Private Pay – $175 Individual, $200 Couples & Family

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is generally used for diagnostic evaluation, where a biopsychosocial assessment is completed to get an idea of the client’s history. The private practice policy is reviewed to ensure the therapist and client are on the same page regarding expectations for both. The remaining time is used for the client to identify treatment goals. It is not uncommon that little psychotherapy is done in the initial session.

Is what we talk about in therapy confidential?

For the most part, yes it is confidential. However, the only times this could be compromised is if you become a danger to yourself (actively suicidal), a danger to someone else, disclose abuse or neglect of a child, elder or dependent adult, or are involved in a criminal case which a subpoena by a judge could mandate me to send the court a copy of session notes or have to testify.

How long will I need therapy?

There are a myriad of components that play a part in therapy. Each can affect the time frame to either shorten or lengthen the time spent in therapy. Here are a few factors: severity of symptoms, resiliency, financial hardship that limits frequency of sessions, lack of commitment to the practice of learned skills and interventions, and quality of support system.
